Please post the recovery.
You averaged 3:30. If you took 3:00 minutes rest this might be your vVO2/3000 pace, so I'd give you 3:40 as 5k pace. 18:20.
If you took 1:00 rest I'd give you the workout pace as 5k pace. 17:30.
The point is the recovery matters.
2 minutes recovery between each 1000, about a 4 minute recovery before the last 400.
I might want to keep this post going, I'm trying to break 18 for a meet next saturday, it's a fast course, and I have 2 more key workouts before it, on monday and wednsday.

Workouts on Monday and Wednesday will not help you for a race next Saturday.

Not true.
@OP: You had 2 mins rest, so I'd say you're in shape for 18:00 or faster.
just had another workout today
5x400: 81, 84, 82, 80, 77
4 hill strides
5x400 - 79, 84, 78, 76, 77
4 hill strides
had about 1;40 rest between each set ( 3m - time for the 400 = rest)
17:30 +/- 0:15

your 1000 splits are all over the place. I suspect your race will end up the same. Going out with a 5:25 mile and ending up running 18:10.
AS it would happen, in general I go out much slower. I'm hoping to even split 5:48s to break 18.
bump. My race is tomorrow, and good strategies or advice tomorrow would be awesome
