Ok we get it, Colorado may be the best team ever and Stanford on paper may have the nastiest top 4 that have ever graced the grass of NCAA XC. What seems nuts though that as good as these teams are, and yes, they are phenomenal, Villanova could have an outside shot at the top 3, or at least podium, and very well could take the whole thing if the cards fall that way. Sure NAU and Oregon are gonna be strong but the Wildcats right now have a very legit #1 runner who very much so will contend for a top 5 spot individually, followed by a slew of fellow Aussies who seem keen on taking the leap forward in XC. Sure, its hard to perform well with a bunch of milers when 8k becomes 10k but I would just like to see a little more loving for some schools not on the West Coast. And yes, the Brojos don't like the idea of split squads and therefore seem to downplay how well their team ran last weekend but quite frankly if Villanova doesn't want to tip their entire hand yet, I think its a damn good move. Can't be good for a team to see expectations of the greatest ever this early in the season. Terre Haute is a long way out! That being said, I love the speculation and can't wait to see how it all plays out.
