Geb is one of my all time favorites, but it's time to stick a fork in him.
That said, sadly, he would still beat any US marathoner quite handily. I wonder what he could rub a track 5k in these days if he trained specifically for it. Sub 13:30?
Alas, we all get old .

He could still run much faster than 2:04:58?
Downhill with a huge tail wind? Why not?

On top of that, said marathoner who managed to run 2:04:58 a few years ago has had far more pitiful performances recently.
The only U.S. marathoner to break 2:06 has been Khalid Khannouchi.
I like that he continues to run past his prime but he should stop with this "age is just a number" BS. Father time catches up with everyone of us.
Hope he recovers quickly and we can see him set some more masters WR.
He should try for the 50K world record. The open not the masters one.

What "age is just a number" BS? Did he say "age is just a number" today? Does "age is just a number" imply "I will still run just as fast regardless of how old I get" or is this just you projecting again?
Have you considered this "BS" came directly from your own as$hole just most of the excrement you post on here, Nutella1?

Sorry mate but the BBC commentators on the race cited him saying it multiple times. Time to stop hating.
How many times has he done similar in the last few years and bounced right back?

He bounces back to where you'd expect a world class MASTERS runner to bounce back to. That is to a 61min half. He used to be a 58min runner.
Likewise, he used to run 2:03 (high). He will be very lucky if he can break 2:08 again.
Age is not just a number.

Age is not just a number.
My statement was referring to him being "done", not how fast he can still run.
I'd like to know where all these 1:01 /2:08 Masters runners are though.

Exactly. I didn't know "you'd expect a world class masters runner" to run a 61 minute half.
For most East Africans, running is a job. Most are happy to hang up the running shoes and enjoy their winnings when they have past their prime. Geb is an exception to the rule in that he has become a major celebrity and benefits from continuing to compete, whereas other lesser known top runners would not get the same appearance fees/media attention. Geb also really just loves to run. Of course he will talk all kinds of talk about age just being a number etc. to the media. But he is a business man and knows that if he goes to every press conference and provides an analysis of how he is losing his form as he ages, he will not get the same appearance fees.
Inside info,he had a car plus driver and Nova official waiting just after 5k to pick him up ! he was never going to run it,witnessed it with my own eyes,Nova needed him to generate interest for publicity purposes and TV coverage, pure shit ! After the Mo Farah farce at the Gt North Run last month its getting Nova a bad name .

You two missed his point. The anecdote was applied directly to Geb. Since HE used to be a 58/2:03 guy, he should still be capable of 61/2:08. Of course this doesn't apply to EVERY master's runner.
Guys. He isn't done. He had trouble breathing. Rupp has this all the time.
he's living proof you can compete at the top without drugs or epo
