Who will win the men's race? Pretty big lead pack.
Women spread out but I don't see Nelson winning

Sometimes no stream is better than a lousy stream. Same old USATF and Runners Space.
Not sure what that means. It's free coverage of marathon champs. Feed looks fine and commentary by Hutchins is always fantastic. Other guy good too.
I wish all road races had this kind of coverage.
It's "Hutchings" and yes, he's awesome. The other guy is Paul Swangard.
The talent for this race isn't spectacular but the coverage is fine. Splits, looks like 5 cameras, LIVE and professional commentary. And yes, free.
How is that typical? Must be a Flotrack kid posting again. Always hating on Runner Space. But this is a USATF.TV production I'm sure, not RS. Hense professional commentary.
2:16 pace not bad for this crew. I like the course in Minnesota. Between two cites. Coverage is awesome. Foolish to say otherwise. Or looking for attention.
Heard it snowed in MN on Fri.
Not trolling. My feed keeps jumping in and out. I always have constantly refresh Runners Space. Never have a problem with other sites.
Wish the women's race was closer. I keep thinking they'll bunch soon. Someone on the men will try and make a move soon.
I've had stream issues with Runnerspace. I've had no issues on this usatf.tv feed. I would agree this is not a RS production. USATF.TV seems to always have professional webcasts. Probably spend good money on this production. Hutchings can't be cheap
Where are all the women? I love that Nelson is a 2nd grade teacher.

Great finish!!!
results?
Tyler Pennel - ZAP 2:13:30
Esther ERB - NYAC, formerly ZAP 2:34:00
Tyler Pennel looked damn good for his debut. Big negative split.
5 men under 2:17
Thanks! That's a very nice debut for Pennel! Hopefully, he'll be breaking 2:10 in the next couple of years. Does have that quick 1:01 half from earlier this year.

Is that really worth mentioning?
keep in mind, this is no slight against Twin Cities....they do a great job with the marathon. that being said, how many other sports have a USA Championship without any of the top athletes actually running the race? sure, an amazing debut for Tyler, and a good win for Esther, but even they would agree that they probably aren't even in the top 10 of the best in the country at 26.2. and in many ways, this is the toughest part about selling these things to the general public--how do you have a National Championship when the best athletes are going to run somewhere else? (I guarantee that Shalane's appearance money was FAR greater than anything she could have won at Twin Cities)
Very true, but the general public knows nothing about distance running nor cares. The spectators out there cheering either live on the course or are watching friends/family run.
Shalane is irrelevant when it comes to drawing spectators or selling the race to the public and her presence at the event would have drawn, at most, maybe 50 additional spectators/nerds of the sport who know who she is.
but that is exactly the problem.....we continue to treat distance running like this, and so indeed no one cares.
why even bother having a National Championship then? sadly, they are often very watered down events....I know it takes a lot of money to attract the best, but it is a bit of the chicken vs egg argument. what comes first--top athletes which attract bigger sponsors? or do you get bigger sponsors to help support bigger names? I do think elites/pro's make a difference, and happy to see Competitor Group recognize this and bring back some of the world's best athletes to compete again. at some level this is truly a sport, and not just a spot to try and get a tshirt while running 3.1 to 26.2 miles.

what is the USA Ch Mar Q ? 2:17 no?
Well, Tyler and Esther both won $25K....for them, that's a huge monetary incentive, so I'm glad races like this exist and that the higher tier/bigger name athletes don't think it's worth their time, because there are up-and-comers getting ready to take their place who need the financial assistance.
