He isn't the fastest guy. He doesn't claim to be. He is an average guy who wanted to challenge himself and do a 50 miler and then run a 50K the next day.
His girlfriend is hot.

I can't stand this guy. You know that one friend we all have that, when in public or when the camera is on, takes their energy level up a few notches and all of a sudden they think they are a comedian... but they're just terribly annoying? This dude.
Pretty sure the OP is the guy in the video. His girlfriend is pretty, but not drop-dead sexy like I was expecting.
Seems most ultra runners to races back to back or within short order of one another.
Just confirms the level of competition in those events.
I agree, just a lot of hiking. Kinda like asking the people that through hike the AT if they are "competing".

Guys, go back and check out his other races (Big Sur, Squamish 50 M last year, etc.). Absolutely great videos. Beautiful.

Pretty sure half the posts in this thread are the guy in the video, even the "anti-hobbyjogger" ones.
Though I guess I agree, even though he's the type of hobbyjogger we all hate, the videos are well put together.

It depends on the course, but many do. You burn yourself out on tough courses if you run all the hills. Tried it myself in my first (and only) ultra, and had a fun 1 hr+ positive split in a 6 hour race.
