Thank goodness she was stopped before anyone got hurt.
As you say: not good.
We've all been there before
Before you throw her under the bus...the article says dui but didn't mention alcohol so that may mean prescription drug which doesn't automatically mean it was intentional.
meet results?
I had a college coach that used our gatorade cooler to stash a 12 pack for the ride home.
Glad he was only around for a year.

Right. Lots of people accidentally take prescription drugs.
One way or another, she was driving poorly enough for a cop to correctly infer that she was impaired. You really shouldn't be driving when you're taking anything that impairs you to that extent, whether it is alcohol, a prescription drug, or meth.

Some prescription drugs cause short term memory loss and people will take them and forget. They will then go drive (not allowed on X drug) and get a DUI. This literally just happened to a family member of mine.

The coach would still have been of sound mind before taking the pills, thereby knowing that taking the pills shortly before having to drive the cross country team to a meet would be illegal.
All irrelevant, as she was definitely drinking.

Doesn't say if she was driving varsity or JV girls.
Girls Varsity was 8th out of 37 teams. Their best runner won the entire race with a 17:34.
JV was 11th out of 23 teams.
Glad the runners were safe and able to participate.
The officer pulled me over, and I almost spilled my Jack and coke. He said "why are you driving so fast?"
"I said, duh, I gotta get these kids to school, didn't you notice that I'm driving a school bus"?
No sale. The assistant coach in question is a coach for Spartanburg High. Logan Morris who won the race, is from Spartanburg Christian Academy. Logan is awesome BTW.

Not me. Not once, ever. And I'd bet that's true of some others, as well.
Trying to excuse your/her behavior with the "we've all done it" dodge is a load of BS.

Bologna. I guarantee that at minimum you have transported 8+ youths high while being on PCP.

Even more:
"A trooper stopped Kiser on Interstate 26 near the 205 mile marker in Charleston County shortly after 5 p.m. Friday, according to the report released Tuesday. Drivers had been calling for the last 50 miles that her blue Chevrolet Suburban was swerving.
A Goose Creek police officer was behind the SUV when the trooper pulled it over, according to the Highway Patrol's report.
"The driver of that truck is an idiot," the Goose Creek officer told the trooper. "They were swerving over the fog line, straddling lanes of traffic, and almost hit another car."
The trooper reported a strong odor of alcohol as Kiser sat behind the wheel. The report said she swayed when she was asked to stand, could not walk heel to toe, and could not stand with her feet together and arms by her side without swaying.
Kiser was placed under arrest for first-offense driving under the influence.
Five of the seven athletes were minor children, so she was also charged with child endangerment."

I coached for 14 years, and never ever had any alcohol or anything before, during or right after any meet, ever.
I even drove the van during XC season, and knew I better be on my best behavior with the kids in the van, since they all talk when they get home. Remember, you are setting an example.
Too many coaches, teachers and even parents worry too much about being "cool". Don't be "cool", be an adult. Be someone the kid will come back to see and respect, and feel safe to send his kids with.
Our coach got trashed before practice one time and passed out by the end of practice. Before we left though, we took a sharpie and have him a unibrow.
Anybody heard of Jamie Klotz? Great coach.
Well I've needed some alcohol right after a few meets in my day...
