In the last year and a half I've gotten back in the gym, probably 50/50 now with running. Prior to this I hadn't been serious about lifting in 8 years.
My bench has gone back up, moving from 135 on my first few sessions back in the gym, to 240x1 last week. That was a best for me.
But I cannot for the life of me get my squat above 165. What gives? Have years of running 100+ mile weeks ruined my ability to squat heavy?
This morning I did a workout of 5x125, 130, 135, 145 and the 145x5 was so much harder than it should be.
I know I'm going to get a ton of "it's because you're running and lifting" answers, but I'm hoping that someone out there might have a better physiological explanation for what I'm going through. And how do I fix it?
