Wow, he wins Asians, blowing away the field:

He finally got his start down, notice that he was equal with Yamagata and Su at 50m, two guys who are very quick to the halfway point.
He just leaves the field behind, on a super-wet track, not great conditions.
I said before Rieti 2014 that I wanted to see Ogunode run well:

I talked about his not-so-great start and drive phase, and his not-so-great knees and arm swing at speed, here:

Even from that crappy-quality vid, it is apparent that he has made absolutely huge improvements in his form since having tied Rodgers and Dasaolu at Continental Cup 2014:

Look at the drive phase, instant improvement! And look at the side view of him at top speed--look at the range of the arms, and the knee action!
Does this guy read the letsrun board, or what? I have never seen this quick of a seemingly complete revision of form, and seemingly perfect execution, from any other elite sprinter, ever. Others have tried and maybe not executed, or showed only a single thing rather than, say, 4 things like Ogunode showed here.
Incredible! Lemaitre should read this board. In fact, all elite sprinters should read this board.
What this tells me is that Ogunode has gigantic native talent, like I said before. This is the first time I have ever seen where it looks like he actually executes a good race--and he goes 9.93 in not great conditions! With almost no tailwind--even this 9.93 would have been 9.8x with a decent tailwind, on a soaking wet track.
Ogunode has been running for his life, with his ragged form, looking for someone who would take him in. What we saw when he was over 10 may have just been essentially his baseline--and if that's the case, then he is one of the very-fastest-ever, cleanly.
He reminds me very much of Dasaolu, who is also ethnically Nigerian BTW. I don't trust Dasaolu for some reason, but I trust Ogunode more, even though I don't trust anything about Qatar. There is a chance that Ogunode has discovered the juice, because as I have said before, drugs enable form--and all of a sudden, form is something he has discovered.
Regardless, Ogunode and Dasaolu are exciting, hopefully they will compete indoors at some point in 2015, along with Vicaut, Carter, Gatlin, and others. Ogunode and Dasaolu both have the potential to go serious 9.8x, based on what they have already done, especially now Ogunode. I would love to see them pose a serious challenge to Gatlin, who would for sure feel them breathing down his neck.
Vicaut is there, too, but he seems injury-prone.
Ogunode! His real coming-out was at Continental Cup 2014, but this 9.93 (+0.4) proves that he means business.
2015 outdoors will be great!
