He's probably going to take the day off. Sore legs and all that.
27:02
27:10. WR marathon doesn't mean WR 10k bud
he split 2924 for 10k today, if that's what you're asking.
And if I had to guess he's probably capable of something in the 2710-2740 range if he were to do a 10k before the heavy marathon specific training, maybe 2650-2710 if he trained specifically for 10k.
26:30.
These guys don't just have more specific endurance. They are faster too.
Probably about the same as Kipchoge was running before he moved up. Maybe slower.
under 27 minutes

? 26'50
Maybe slower

2"02's
offer dennis'
10000m ?
First of all, I'm picking Eluid over Kenny B in Chicago.
As for the 10K question, it's a reasonable query for a running fanatic to ask.
Given a fast, even pace with good help, and maybe a screaming crowd (let's say, if Brussels was smart enuff to bring back the 10K), I'd gonna say 26:45. That's right, a couple steps slower than Rupp!

long way from consideration of
"sadly, but no"

err...
woudn't geb have been good for 26'40 - 26'45 in 2"03'59 shape ?

Nobody suggested it did f'tard. But it does suggest something darn fast.

Yeah but he had track speed from the Olympics... plus he's always had speed in general. Dennis is not necessarily faster.
you probably have him good for 25:50-26:00 right?!?

he ran 26:53 in May 2008 (Hengelo) a few months before his
race in Berlin. The best marathoners today are around 27.
Rupp would have no difficulty beating them.

They are running 27 off of marathon training. If they actually trained for 10k, they'd leave Rupp behind.
I don't see that as true. Bekele, Kipchoge, gebrehmerian, Haile G, etc, were all guys who were running 26'50s to 27s but not faster before they moved up. Kipchoge ran Hengelo and Brussels a few years and ran about 26:50. He tried and did not make the Olympic team. he ran a 27:11 in 2012. (You know, the year Rupp and Farah beat all of the Kenyans. ) THEN he moved up and ran fast marathons. I don't see why anyone would argue that now he would run faster with specific 10000 training now. Similar story with Haile G. Kimmetto, Makau and Kipsang don't strike me as guys with great speed. They are great marathoners. It is different. V3- Please give up on the fantasy that there are a bunch of 26:10 Kenyans who happen to run marathons. I'd love to see someone run 12:40 and 26:20. Looking back Over the last 5 years, I can't think of anyone capable of doing that.

One more point, Tadesse was running 58:23 halfs and he managed a 10000 pr of 26:37. Why assume marathoners can go sub 26:30?
