On the surface this appears to be a step back from last year when she won a race against better D1 runners than this field
This doesn't look like a pro race.

I wouldn't quite call it a pro debut. If anything, this seems more like what she would do if she were a standard NCAA runner, since the entire field consists of college girls.
But then again, Professional Cross Country is virtually nonexistent.

She led most of the race and fell with 400m to go.

She lost 15+ seconds from one fall with only 400m to go???
I heard she fell w/ 100 to go - she had the lead at that time.
"Stanford’s website (gostanford.com) reported that Efraimson had a substantial lead down the homestretch until her legs began to buckle. She collapsed with 80 yards to go and was passed by Regan.
Efraimson regained her feet, but labored to the finish, losing one more spot, and barely holding on for third before her legs gave out again as she crossed the line, in 20:46."

seems like severe dehydration
Clearly the idiot from flo track does not what a pro race is and collegiate x-country race. He should have said debut as a pro athlete.
Alexa has a some work to do , as a pro all of her x-country races will be 4k plus.
She now will racing against better athletes , lets see how she evolves over the next couple of years.
She's destined for greatness in races one-fourth as long as this.
REMINDS ME OF WESLEY KEATING AND TOO MUCH CAFFEINE USE!! She's already looking for an edge!! that is not normal for a runner at freaking all. I have run for over 20 years and never had such a situation, and I'm faster than Efraimson.

Haven't her cross-country races ALREADY been 4k plus...?

Maybe it's useful experience. In life, might as well go after it while you're young.
But she should be chastised/advised for being overconfident and getting in over her head with her new "Professional" pride. Buckling in mechanical failure in the home stretch of a standard women's college xc race belies "professional preparation."
"Training mostly by myself."
"What coach is that with?"
[unintelligible] (I assume her hs coach as previously reported)
Thanks for the race results. Solid effort for early season race. She had long track season for HS junior, she will be better as year goes on for sure.

Highschool races are usually 5k. She's done 4k plus before so that poster was correct.
NIKE must have offered her some attractive $$$$ for her to turn pro. Otherwise, why would she be so stupid to make the jump?
