New coach Strong is having his football players drug-tested repeatedly, in contrast to previous coach Brown, and 9 players have been suspended.
What's remarkable though is the official Texas policy:
"The data obtained by the Statesman does not indicate how many players tested positive for drugs. Texas' student-athlete handbook for 2014-15 indicates that players are subject to a suspension for 10 percent of their season and counseling upon a second positive test. A third positive test would require a half-season suspension along with counseling, and the punishment for a fourth positive test is dismissal."
So, a 1 game suspension and counseling after 2 positive tests, a six game suspension for 3 positive tests, and only with a fourth positive is there dismissal??? And most of the coaches don't do much testing, so you can or could essentially dope any time after your spring test and even if you tested positive three times in a college career, that would still be a total of just 7 games suspension.
