sup guys. i'm a college sophomore and i'm redshirting this xc season because i got surgery over the summary fixing an injury and was only able to start running in august. this last week i hit 30 miles. i'm supposed to start racing indoors (first race will likely be mid january- running mile/3k indoors and 15/5k outdoors). how should i progress my mileage week by week from now until then? i've got about 16 weeks. unfortunately the coaches aren't particularly helpful with anything other than workouts so i kind of have to figure out my mileage progression by myself. i was thinking something like this...
30
33
36
40
(from here on start doing tempos once a week)
42
45
47
50
(from here on, tempos become fartleks/long interavals, add another tempo per week)
52
54
56
58
(from here on, pretty much doing 2 hard days (tempo or long intervals) and one long day a week)
60
63
65
65
is this a reasonable progression? should i hold off on doing hard stuff or start doing it earlier? i've been doing 5 days a week now and am unsure of when to start doing 6 a week and 7 a week. all advice is much appreciated.
