Happy almost-Fall, masters! fun week of running for me. 75 miles incl.:
11 with 4 X 1 mile cruise intervals (1:00 recovery) at estimated half-marathon pace (average 6:10) monday
10 w/ 20 X 400 (100 jog) at 5k pace Weds. total time 8k = 28:35 (3:34.4/km). recent road 5k 17:57 (3:35.4/km). given track faster than rolling road course, seemed ok on pacing
10k x-c Sat. -- challenging course 41:14 for 4th OA, first master. Have run this race a lot, but first time on modified course, so no real point of comparison. 2:00 behind a guy who beat me by 1:38 a month ago in 5k x-c, so I guess that's progress of a sort. On my own between packs the whole way, felt like a good, evenly paced effort.
Next week, however, I meet with my attorneys to prep a lawsuit. I switched out a different VO2 max workout i'd planned for last week for the 20 X 400 after watching a video on Pete's blog of SoCal Pete, SoCal Cush and their teammates doing this workout. They appeared to be running smoothly and under control, so I figured it would be fairly easy and turn me into a cross-country God like them immediately. Instead it was pretty difficult (esp. around 12-13-14 I was tying up) and Saturday I still lost to younger faster guys. False advertising!
Have a great week,
Dave
