McNutt is great. But, the MOSO course is short of 5k. Based on multiple gps readings, the course is probably 100-150 meters short.

Course might be short but it is lightning fast...colleges race real fast on course for 8K and 10K...

You do realize that GPS watches aren't accurate right? I'm so tired of everybody complaining about courses being short or long based on a GPS watch. If you want accurate, go and wheel the damn course. I've seen GPS watches being off on a track by as much as 30 seconds per mile!

Yes I know that. I am very familiar with gps measurements. I would never use gps to confirm a course is correct. But because the gps measurement is long 99% of the time, if the gps comes up short, the course is short. All gps measurements of the moso course came up to about 3.05 miles or so. If I would wheel it, I would guarantee you it would come up shorter than that. I have wheeled and gps measured many courses. The gps is always longer than the wheel. Anyone with experience knows this to be true.

Disagree. 5K times seem exceptionally fast

(20 sec fast), but 8K times seem slow by 20-30 sec.. However, it did heat up by the time the 8K races were happening and of course the high school races. No way would GPS be accurate with all the trees, turns, hills, and switchbacks.

McNutt rand 14:58 last season as a junior, after opening with a 15:13 at the MO Southern Stampede.

He was also 1 of 4 guys who took down Jake Leingang's Heartland Regional NXN record in a nationals qualifying battle last year. So whatever the measurement, he's a contender at NXN this year.

I know he has visited OK State and Iona.

This is not outlandish on that course. It has been done many times.

10% is terrible. I could guess closer with no watch.

Moso course is short. Anyone who has taken teams there knows that it is short. It has always been short. Everyone who has ever measured it has confirmed that it is short.

Times don't matter in xc, place matters. All courses are different. Throw out the clock and race.

yes, the course can be fast (but not yesterday). If you ran at the course on that day - you know that time is legit. If you didn't run it - you have no idea.

MoSo is possibly one of the fastest college XC courses in the country. After they changed the course(6 years ago?) the distances have been accurate. Not sure why, but something about that course, and especially the first mile, just makes it ridiculously fast.

Solid time but it's not a course record and McNutt is not going to threaten top 5 at nationals or anything. Hardly LRC worthy - more of a milesplit post.

For reference, he ran 15:37 at KC Metro today, which is 16 seconds behind Zach Herrriott's (Virginia) course record.

So you stated 99% of the time which means you are saying that some of the time it is wrong...how do you know this isn't one of those times?

What the hell model are you using? I hope you're not comparing to mapmyrun or something, which will always measure long due to you not running corners the way they measure them.
