I had an accident at an intersection today. An old lady hit my car from the side. There was a guy who owns a pawn shop on the corner who said he saw the whole thing and he will serve as a neutral witness as he saw my light was green and the old lady ran the red light. No one was hurt, thankfully, but what do I do now? I'm not too down about it, my car was 16 years old and I only paid 1k for it. But I'm more curious about the process, who ultimately determines who is responsible for the wreck? Does having somebody who actually saw the wreck on my side help? I don't know if this is relevant, but I was alone in my car. The old lady had two young people in her car, a guy and a girl. Immediately after the accident, the girl ran away from the scene because she had a warrant for her arrest.
