So I have an interesting situation right now and am looking for some advice. I am a healthcare professional that has been in my current position since last summer. I spent a year in a half of school for this job (had previous BS degree and didn't need to do any prereqs). Anyway, I was a little uncomfortable and anxious during clinical in school but always managed to meet all my competencies. It is over a year later, while I have improved in this time I still feel a good deal of stress and anxiety before and during my shifts. I decided to enter a program for a second healthcare field I feel more confident in. I completed this program and have recently passed the registry exam. I am actively applying for positions and my supervisor at work knows I will most likely leave my current position in the next few months.
The curveball is I have just been offered a postion in my previous field of work. I left because it wasn't stable and work was temporary while also requiring travel. It is easily less stressful. The position offered pays less per hour but has 20 hours of OT per week and per diem everyday, I will net more money. The down side is it is only about 2 months of work and I have to leave home for that time, wife not happy about that. I would continue to apply for positions in the new healthcare field I am now credentialed in during this time. does it make any sense to leave my current job and go on the road? My head says no but just the thought that it is an option makes me excited. Thanks.
