Running first 5k in ~4 years this weekend
Workout this morning of 6x800 with 2 mins rest
Ran 3:00,2:58,2:59,2:58,3:00,2:56
Started hurting a little bit during the last rep
Is sub 20 min 5k this weekend reasonable?

Possible, but not likely. 800 repeats don't always give a good picture of continuous 5k endurance effort. What's your weekly mileage and key workout routine been, and for how long?
Anyhow, the very good news is that, unless you plan to stop running for another 4 years after this race, you have plenty of time to beat that and other personal goals.
Yes, sub 20 should be a piece of cake assuming you are running a decent amount (4-5 days per week). I'd probably run similar times for that workout and I've run a low 19 5k.

Building up for a half marathon at the end of October and about halfway through the Intermediate Higdon 12 week plan.
Haven't been keeping close track of mileage but probably at about 30-35 off of 4-5 days a week.
I have been able to finish the last 4-5 miles of long runs at about 7:15 pace, but have struggled with any extended or quick tempo runs otherwise.
Hoping the race will give a little more confidence towards running 1:30-1:35 HM towards end of Oct

You really ran 20:20? I did that same workout last week and tempo'd a 5K at 20:00 flat. You must have really bombed?

Made the mistake of starting behind a lot runners I shouldn't have. Came through first mile in 6:46, but probably a lot more effort weaving through people.
Was on pace to run something faster but started hurting/lost focus at 2.5 miles. Need to run more miles
