I'm coming back from a month layoff. I've done a month of running since, but way out of shape still.
What would be the expected 10,000m time from this workout?
5x800m with 800m jogging rest
3:10
3:05
3:10
3:00 (felt I was maxing out on this)
3:05

2.5 miles worth of work.
bye
Given the times and recovery, that is a pretty slow workout. Sub 40? idk, been awhile since I've been that slow, and its hard to gauge off of that particular workout
I'd take that. It was extremely discouraging running that workout. No excuses, but gained at least half a stone in the month off.
whats 800m jogging rest? 6 min 800 or 4 min 800?
my team used to do basically this workout except the we would run the repeats at 2:35-40 but the rest was at 3:15 pace... "jogging" rest pace can mean alot of different things interms of workout difficulty.

3:45 800m rest.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but 42:30 would be a good effort.

It isn't clear you could even finish a 10k based on this workout
Ok, I might not finish if I go out at 6:05. I think the second last poster is right. 42:30. Terrible.
I guess you do restart from scratch after significant time off.
DNF, but if you are smart, a DNS.
I could run this workout and I'm in about 42 shape at the minute so I'd guess around that.
Going out at 6:05 would be a mistake, no faster than 6:30.
This workout brings very little information to the table. It doesn't touch endurance. Do you have time to run another one? Say 3x2miles.
With ideal weather about 41:21, or about 6:40/mile
