My friend recently got racing flats and beat a lot of people on a recent 5K race that he usually was getting beat by. I am finally getting a pair of spikes (saucony shay xc4... not sure if they're that great or not) and this saturday we have an all grass 5K. How much could these spikes potentially drop my time? The guy who got racing flats dropped 40 seconds on his 5K PR from a race last week.
Is there a noticable difference when wearing spikes in a race? Sometimes wearing my trainers feels clunky but I don't know if spikes will really speed me up that much.
