Oh, fellow runners. Hopefully you are not like me with regards to my stress fracture history (4 in 2 years). I'm not really asking for advice here but hoping we can provide some support to one another.
I have always, always taken at least one day in between runs, if not two. I am a triathlete and train heavily in biking and running as well. Also have made an extra effort to watch my volume and never increase more than 10% week by week. Alas I find myself with a second hip stress fracture, in the opposite side, 1.5 years after the first one. Every time I start running, I get a stress fracture.
I can only speak from my own experience, but my hip stress fractures (femoral neck) have been the worst. The pain started for me, feeling like a hip flexor strain. In about a week, it was a pain that followed me after training runs, through the night, while completing activities of daily living, all of it. Please, please don't mess around with hip pain! Last time it took 6 months to heal. This time, I stopped earlier so I'm hoping it will go away more quickly, but I hope that others can take this advice.
Has anyone found any lasting solutions? I don't find much info on the web on recurring stress fractures.
