I'd personally have no problem with a strike or two (And YES I read Hiroshima more than once, nukes are very NASTY), but I'm not in charge and you'd have lots of people whining including people in the US.

I've read the Koran, albeit a 1923-edition translated by a British adventurer. Don't recall his name. I know it wasn't Burton.

It reminded me very much of the Biblical Old Testament. There was nothing that I read in it, however, which would have inspired me to take up Jihad, let alone behead people.

Guess I was missing something. War is stupid, there are enough natural challenges in life, as it is, without making things worse by deliberately fighting with others.

The Koran was sort of interesting, but I've read de facto Scriptures of other Faiths, too. There are similarities:

Most major religions have the same bare bones rules per se. Live upright, do right by people, don't screw up, help those in need, plus their own individual specifics applicable to the practitioners of each Faith.

There is lots in the Koran which says 'death to the infidel'. You're right as it not only reads like the Old Testament, it really is the Old Testament. I wonder if Christians understand that Muslims are just very devout Christians? They really believe that crap. I'd like to see some work done towards the elimination of all the Abrahaminic religions. We need to accept as a nation how detrimental to the human species these belief systems are and then educate the rest of the world. I'd like to see the US leading on this project but Europe is light years ahead of us in what I would term the spread of 'rational thought'.

They are way ahead of us in islamisization, if that's what you somehow meant by "rational thought." Europe isn't dropping religion, they're just changing religions. Within 100 years, if the mass Immigration continues, there will be more Muslims in Europe than Christians or non-religious.

Do you not follow world news? Do you not know that immigration from Islamic countries is one of the biggest issues in eu politics? Did you know the guy who is beheading for ISIS is from London? Did you know France is already 10% Muslim? Did you know that the Danish and Swedish welfare states are in danger because of mass immigration of Muslim refugees?

Seriously, try to keep up with current events. You're an embarrassment to the rest of Americans who actually know nothing about it. At least they don't pretend to know something and just start blabbering. If you don't know what your talking about, then keep quiet and start learning. Consider this post your first lesson.

Good post. I just want to add that outside Saudi Arabia, where Wahabbism has long been used to justify the royal family, the emergence of radical islamism is a relatively recent phenomena (in the las century, basically).

I would suggest it is related to the modern history of the region; failed "nationalist" dictators and a sense of frustrated powerlessness of the locals in the face of globalistaion, economic stagnation and (rightly or not) the perceived injustices of Israel and US foreign policy.

I think you are missing the point. This is not a muslim problem. You really can't differentiate between ISIS or George W. Bush who killed hundreds of thousands for no other reason than he says god told him to do it. Quite frankly, the muslims have quite a ways to go if they want to catch up to the christian body count. It's really all the same religion. Their methods are a little different but the end result is always the same. Roughly half of France is atheist, ten percent here in the US. That's progress. My advice to you would be to quit worrying about immigration issues in Europe and focus on what is going on in your local church on Sunday. Where was your outrage when US troops were murdering thousands every day in the Middle East?
