She tanked today. What happened? Is she done?

Because her time today - 4:25.5 - wasn't that interesting. Not a PR, not terrible. More interesting was Hasay's 4:23.9, which has gotten a fair bit of comment.
p.s. In no sense did Cain "tank" since the only faster performance by an American her age or younger is her own 4:24.11 from this indoor season, with which this result is basically in line.

Who?
That's like a 4:10 1500.
Wow.

Yes she did tank. Tanking is relative to yourself not to the others.

RCS, again, what up? [You know as well as I do that 4:25.5 for 1609.xx meters is significantly faster than 4:10 for 1500m. Cain probably spit 1500m in something between 4:06 - 4:08 for 1500m.]
Seriously, you hate Rupp and you hate AlSal and that's ok, but there's no need to let that hate make you say things that just aren't true.
I love road miles, but times in a point to point road race aren't very useful in relation to PRs.
8th and 10th place in an 18 woman field...nothing to write home about.
Hasay isn't a miler anymore so her result isn't terrible.
Cain's results as a pro nothing special so far, but I'm sure she will be fine long term since this was an off year.
Actually refreshing that the attention goes to winners instead of the usual 'Ryan Hall 11th place!' (And the winner not mentioned) stuff that plagues the MB. The most significant athlete and the one most worthy of mention is the winner. Second place deserves second-most discussion, etc. The usual routine is discussing MC's 10th as if it is something important, perhaps more so than 1st-9th. Danica Patrick and her agents, managers, and publicists pioneered this tactic. Her mere participation is top-of-the-hour front page news... But wait, she didn't win and we don't know who did since that is far less significant than Danica's 12th place or whatever.
Let's move on from this nonsence. Mary is not being discussed nor should she be. Go jenny!
