NFL network is calling him the Nixon of this watergate. I think he resigns without taking questions in the next few days.

Nope he won't resign. His father was a US Senator and he is well connected. Rules and laws are for the common man.
Nah. Not yet anyway. He just hired the former FBI director to do an investigation. Goodell won't go anywhere until that is complete.
Resign for what?
Taking more time to come to a conclusion on a penalty that the criminal justice system did not call for any punishment?

What laws did he break?
What part of $44.2 million per year don't you understand?
He makes $1.34 per second 24/7. If he manages to not answer the league's phone call to fire him until Monday, 9/15 he makes an extra $425,000.
If they want him to leave quietly, he might get an 8 figure golden parachute.
Goodell is by far the best NHL/NFL/NBA/MLB commissioner right now. He's doing a phenomenal job of lining the pockets of owners, increasing interest in football (domestically and internationally), keeping parity in the league, and preventing the 'concussion problem' from becoming any bigger than it already is.
To think he would resign at a time like this? He's killing it on all accounts!
That said, bring back celebrations. Let the guys have fun. It's a game.
Stephen A. Smith had a nice rant on why Goodell should not resign. Of course he went on to call the Director of NOW "crazy", That's going to blow back on him hard - the guy has been some some really stupid stuff lately and needs to learn when to put a filter on it. But no- Goodell won't resign unless there is proof that he saw the video, or knew the NFL had access to it, before Monday.

Lying about no one in the NFL seeing the elevator video. That is the hot topic for now.
If it is proven that he lied about that, he is toast IMO. If the video simply got lost and he really didn't see it then he stays on.
If he kicks Rice out of the NFL I think he should be kicked out as well.
Like they tried to get Bill Clinton out of office for lying.
Goodell is just the head of a football league and he may have seen this one tape before the public did without saying anything about it.
Clinton was the head of the country and actually did the sexual act and verifiably lied about and didn't step down.
Yes. Hot topic FOR NOW.
Does it have legs to keep America's attention over the next juicy gossip topic?
No chance of resignation. Taking this witch hunt to the top is ridiculous.
Waiting for the weekend to come and the news cycle to die/turnover. The guy makes 35 million a year. Hard to give that up.
His wording is what may get him into trouble. If it was illegal to have a copy of the video, then I don't blame him for not using it against Rice, even if he did see it. It's not viable evidence if illegal. I wouldn't blame him for not watching it even if he had it in this case.
But if he did see it and said he didn't, well, he should face the music.
If he is forced to resign, at least he can get a job at the NJ prosecutor's office. At least he levies tougher penalties than they were willing to try.
WHat did people expect happened in the elevator? Knocking someone out takes a serious punch.
People *knew* what happened before, they just had not actually *seen* it happen.
Nothing has really changed, has it? Where was this extreme outrage before? Yes I know there was some outrage.
Just like the isis beheadings. Hearing about them gets an "eh?" Seeing gets a primetime address from Barry on TV.
We need to be outraged whenever these things happen, not just be outraged that our sensibilities were offended by watching.
