They make very good money... base salary of $70k at major firms (ie. Goldman Sachs) and bonuses can add up to $100k at the end of the 1st year.
But the thing is they are on-the-job 7 days a week.
Dinner with the girlfriend? Nope, come back to the office to serve a client
Drinks with friends? Nope, back to the office, now.
And 90 hour workweeks are not uncommon.
So why do IB'ers put themselves through this torture? Even for the sake of money, do they not have relationships, friends, and health to nurture?
