Two of my acquaintances are currently facing trials that could lead to jail time.
Motor vehicle accident resulting in death and some sort of Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP) fraud.
Do you know someone currently in jail?

I'd like to give a shout out to all the homeboys who raped me during my 9 year stay in prison. I may be living on the outside now, but my heart will always be in cell block B.
No but I'd off myself in a second if I was facing it
not currently but I have. Two dudes gave completely different perspectives. One talked about all the nutcases and how he was scared s**tless the whole time trying to act much crazier than he was to make sure people wouldn't f**& with him. The other talked about how he improved his bench press and got in the best shape of his life. Fwiw the first one was the much, much bigger of the two. Neither were raped or anything like that.
My brother has been in and out of jail his entire adult life. He has been out a while now (about two years), but for a while there he was in there as often as he was out, and this is a place where people rarely go to jail for more than a few months for anything less than rape, murder, child abuse, etc. His crimes have been mostly drug, alcohol, theft, and driving related. Because he's 5 years older than me and was getting in trouble with the law even when we were kids, this all just seems normal to me, but I have found some people freak out when I tell them my brother has been in jail a lot. This seems pretty strange to me as I come from a very blue-collar town where lots of people go to jail for short periods of time due to intoxication, drunk driving, writing fraudulent checks, etc. It's usually just for a night, a few days, or a few weeks. The jail is a good one, and there aren't any really hard criminals in it, so rape and shankings don't really happen at all.
One of my neighbors from here in the States ended up in jail in Brazil and frankly I don't expect we'll ever see him again.
I actually was detained in a Midwest county jail overnight for speeding, really, and even that was nowhere near pleasant. No real bed, just a metal slab attached to a wall, and nothing I would call food and no ever checking on us at all to see if the other guys weren't ... you know.
My first cousin's cousin (not a blood relative of mine) was a sad case with drug problems. One of his girl friends ratted him out. He hung himself in his jail cell.
I've got friends in low places.
Jail is for lightweights. Prison is where it is at.
Neither of these guys will do well in lock-up. Both are pretty wishy-washy.
The negligent homicide guy had a rough time overnight in a holding cell before arraignment. He is really scared because he was arrested after a "Silent Grand Jury'. His accident happened over a year ago and he has notices from the DAs Office that no charges would be filed. There was a police car set to catch illegal turns on the corner and they saw the guy run out from between parked cars. The police statements say he was not speeding and comments they made on the scene are in line with the DAs report of no charges.
The other guy is probably guilty. I know he has been collecting comp and working under his wife's SS number at a company run by her brother. Seems it is common knowledge in his circle of friends. I figure if I, as just an acquaintance, know those details investigators have even more info.
I have a godfather who was sentenced to life in Azkaban
LOL, no.
Yes. One of my relatives was the warden at the local jail. I am also friendly (not friends) with the warden of our county jail.
