I've been having breathing problems for 3 years... originally misdiagnosed as EIA and recently confirmed as vocal cord dysfunction. I'm currently in my freshman XC season for a competitive D2 school, on which I made the roster (A lot of pressure). I truly believe I'm in great shape and I have no injuries; I only struggle with finishing tempo workouts and races due to throat tightness. The difficulty i have when I run HARD cause lactic acid to build up to the point of muscle failure and I'm worried it will continue to get worse as the season progresses. I've been to a speech therapist and I regularly do breathing exercises, but they haven't helped me much when I need to push myself. Anyone have any advice?????
