So I'm a freshman boy and this is my first year of cross country. I recently ran a 19:28 in my first race. I ran about 40 mpw during the summer of all just mileage. Do you guys think i can go sub 18 by the end of the season or is this too high of a goal? Also, what type of workouts should I do and what should my racing strategy be?
Firstly, YOU ARE NO LONGER A BOY, WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING YOU ARE A MAN.
Secondly, that sounds like too much of an improvement to hope for, too fast. Have a man's patience and know that you will improve by leaps and bounds year-over-year with consistent training and dedication.
What kinds of workouts does your coach have you doing during the season?
