Yes. Reclining seats were no big deal 20 years ago when people had a lot more room. The seat hasn't changed but the amount of room has. This mean that a recline now takes a far greater % of room away from the person behind than it did 20 years ago.
Airlines should re-design recline so that instead of reclining the top into the space behind, it pushes the bottom of the seat forward into the cuurent seat user's space.
Great idea. They could also design MUCH slimmer seats. You are seeing this in some automobiles now. The seats in the new Volvos take up much less room than the thickly padded seats of most vehicles.
This will cost money I realize and is why it probably won't happen.
