hello,
I'm not sure if this topic is injury related or equipment related.
I've been running for about 18-20 months now, well up until last month that is, when i had to stop because i couldn't take the pain and injuries anymore.
All of last year i ran on my heel, however i noticed that was putting too much pressure on my tibia and knees. So i've decided to give the forefoot running technique a go. It felt brilliant, it was a bit rough at first, but i no longer felt any -bone- pain and i felt more flexible. However i kept getting this small burn-like friction on both my soles, that was okish, but the bad part is the friction on the outer side of my little fingers, particulary the right one. It got to a point where the .. i'm not sure it is/was even a blister, made a huge black area about half of the finger, so i had to stop, and it took about 1 month for it to disappear. A couple of days ago i've tried running again, testing stuff out (i'll get to that in a minute), and yet nothing seems to work. I really want to run, but the friction is killing me without even hitting half a mile.
Regarding equipment, well i've been sort of a scrouge at first, i ran into some cheap Kalenjis all of last year, they were fairly ok, i've kept them at first for forefoot running as well, but as soon as i saw the friction, i went and bought some Nike Darts. That did not solve the problem at all. SO then, after reading through some forums, i went around and bought some running socks, and that didn't work either. I've tried using 2 thin pairs - at the same time and it only made it worse. And finally i've even tried some thick hiking socks, and that was even worse than with 2 thin pairs, i had to stop after 200 meters, because my sole was already burning.
Did anyone else have this problem ? or can suggest me what else to try ? i really really like running but i simply can't endure the burn-like pain.
Oh some info :
-average running distance is around 5 miles. (when i was still able to run)
-pronation - i have no clue, but it seems normal to me, it feels as if i'm slightly underpronating but i can't tell for sure
-shoe size, i usually buy them around 1 size bigger, because my sole is kinda wide. (it's also 45-46 european size)
-my mother tongue isn't english so - just in case - sorry for english 'mishaps'
