I am a primarily 800m runner. My prs are 400-52 , 800-2 00 , 1600- 4 46
My 800 time last year was 2 10. I was hoping for a sub 2 this past season, but some things happened which hurt me. I know what do to training wise, considering last year was my first year training seriously on my own (I am in high school). I have done weight training and continue to do that. I plan on running about 20mpw from now until my season. With some variation. I am going to do 2 "speed" workouts a week (like some 400s and 200s) and just try to get some good miles in with a long run of maybe 4-5 miles.
I am trying to get to a 1 54 this year and hope to help my team win state. Is this an attainable goal? When I ran the 2 00 I felt like I could have kept dropping but then for certain reasons I was not able to run at all for 2 weeks and ruined my shape. I still feel like I can do much better.
Also any other 800m runners who had a similar path as me and were an underdog? If so I am open to advice. Thanks. I will keep this updated
