The whole "aura" surrounding a 100 mile week on this site made me wonder: Why do people like round numbers?
For example: You could run a 99 mile week and get the same exact amount of fitness as if you had run a 100 mile week, however the 100 mile week is much more personally gratifying.
Also, instead of just ending a run at let's say, 4.98 miles, many people will run just a few extra steps to get the full 5.
Why is this?
