In my last 5k i ran a 16:30. My splits were 5:00 5:20 6:10(for last 3.1). What am i doing wrong i want to run under 16?

It should be pretty obvious to you how to improve. If you go out in 5:10 this time, maybe you won't fade as much.
To answer your question, you didn't run fast enough. But to actually help you out...
16:00 pace for 5k is roughly 5:10 pace. Your first mile was okay, I wouldn't go out any faster than 5:00. Ideally you run goal pace for the next mile or so, then you have a 10 second cushion to fall back on, 5:20 pace.
If you prefer negative splits. I would say 5:15, 5:10, 5:00-04 would be best. If you think you're in 16:00 shape, then a 10:25 first 3200 shouldn't be overly taxing depending on the conditions.
I set a big PR by running positive splits, then took 30 seconds off that running negative splits 6 days later (not that I'm fast, that was an age group equivalent of 17:20, if you believe in those calcs).
I credit you for hanging in there in the last mile. You must have really been suffering.
Yes it was about 85 degrees and very humid. Also the end of the course had 2 hills but still no excuse for that last mile
Next time start in 5:10. You will run faster. Temperature and hills are extra hard when you start too fast...
You might be in sub 16 shape. I don't know. Is 16:30 your PR now?
Last season i ran 15:55 but im running 15 mpw more
