10.35...
Body fat much higher than before,
Much less muscle definition,
Much less muscle mass,
Very nervous,
Not a shadow of his former self.
Maybe go to Mitchell and Gat for some of their magic potion??

white kid from CA HS ran that fast at his state meet.
I admit that Gay lost some muscle mass and is not as RIPPED as before. However, I think he simply didn't train as hard during his suspension. He will be back.
It's clear that Gay gave up, and that he is faster than that time would indicate. I think it was because he got some sort of tweak, he's not the kind of guy who just quits, ever.
But that's the main point: for whatever reason, HE QUIT. He NEVER used to quit unless he tore something. Talk about a shadow of his former self. That's what roids give you, among other things: a never-quit mentality. Great competitors (which Gay might not be, after all) have that naturally. I have it, and I know other guys who have it. Maybe Gay needed roids to get it, who knows.
FOR SURE he had less muscle mass. He was actually getting very dense there for a while, and striated. He's now both thinner, and smoother--not good, for him. I'm surprised at the speed and extent of his diminution. He's naturally a small guy, who got pumped up--unlike someone like Gatlin, who is naturally bigger and thicker. Maybe he needs to learn from Kim Collins.
So, he's better than 10.3, but he's not great. Maybe in his 9.9 this year, he was still benefiting from his past use, and now it's wearing off, so he's a 10.1 guy. We will see what happens in the future, but the odds are that he will use again, just with a different regimen, smarter.
Correct. To compete in the 100 meters at the top level - meaning sub 9.9 - you have to be on drugs or be a freak like Usain Bolt.
agreed , The time is misleaging ,pulled up.
if kept at same speed around 10.1
BOLT MINUS THE STEROIDS at moment .
still got igf-1 lr3 to get them legs moving
faster for us taller guys .
only a freak due to being as fast for his height
not his times ,as without peds 9.9 max
Remember in when bolt ran 10.04 (9.82 SB) and came back few days later with a 9.76 (headwind) in Rome? Bolt was simply feeling "flat".. what makes you think this is not the case with Gay? He was clearly going to run 10.1 low.. I believe that the break 5week break didn't help him especially having trained and raced sparingly in the last year. He will get his groove back.
Gatlin never ran anything like 9.69 with or without drugs. For sure, that takes a lot out of your body, and Gay was getting gradually slower even before the drug positives...just like Bolt has not ever been back to 9.58 again (even without drug testing).
In Gatlin's first season back, never broke 10.0. He was out a lot longer, but it took him 2 more seasons to get fully back to where he had been before. Gatlin was also "heavy" for a period--this was mentioned on this site--after coming back.
If Gay's body even holds together (and that's a big if) I don't expect him back to his capabilities until 2016.
You're right about all that, but there is little doubt that Gay has been using in the past. He's not a consistent 9.7x guy like he used to be, so it's reasonable to think that he's a 9.9x or above guy, consistently. Wasn't he a 10.3x guy before his big gains?
If he's capable of going 9.8x at the moment, 1 of 2 things is in play: 1) he is still benefiting from prior use, or 2) he is still using. At the moment, I would bet that it is (1). It seems like he is capable of going 9.9-flat with a bit of wind this year.
However, wait and see what happens between this year and next--if he tries to maintain his juiced level of training while clean, he WILL get injured, of that there is no doubt. If he doesn't, his times will increase. Say he becomes a consistent 9.9x guy, would he be satisfied with that? Or a 10.0x guy, or a 10.1x guy? I would bet that he wouldn't be OK with that, and would start using again. With those times, he would get destroyed any time he raced against Gatlin or Bolt, or maybe even Powell. What good would that be? He would be the guy who everybody knew had no chance unless he cheated, and that would hurt.
I can't see Gay going 9.8x without help. To do that, one needs a complete race, which he doesn't have--his start is inferior, and seems to be only getting worse now that he is maybe off the juice. So let's say, optimistically, he becomes a 9.9x guy when in good form--he would be in the mix with guys like Vicaut, Dasaolu, KBC, even Ashmeade and Carter, even Bromell and Friday if they keep improving...and any one of a number of other guys internationally who can pop a 9.9x
My money is that he goes back on the juice, and smarter. Even if he's 9.8x now, I think that's the old juice still doing the talking. Travel crushes a person, it is hard on the body. That's what stimulants and microdosing are good for. When you see a guy like Gatlin jetting around the world and popping basic 9.8's, that's as close as you can get to a sure sign that something is wrong--IMO almost as close as 9.58 or 9.69, and definitely into the realm of certainty.
This "non-year" has very quickly become very interesting, with the withdrawal of Bolt, the diminution of Gay, the resurgence of Powell, and the exclusion of the unbeaten #1 Gatlin. The remaining meets, all within essentially the next week, will be potentially very interesting...Zagreb is in 3 days, Brussels is in 5 days, and Rieti is in 8 days. Powell is slated to be in Zagreb and Rieti. In Brussels there will be Gatlin, Gay, Rodgers, and Collins. I hope that all the top guys will try to be in Rieti, especially Gatlin. I wouldn't be surprised if he had developed some rust during the long layoff, so he could use Brussels as a rust-buster before hitting Rieti and going hard against Powell.
"meaning sub 9.9 - you have to be on drugs or be a freak like Usain Bolt."
-hahahaha! so everyone else under 9.9 is on drugs, but you've got a guy at 9.58 who's not? c'mon, man! use your head!

He looked like Re-Run out there

There are actually studies on this, you can search for them on Google Scholar. DHEA has no significant effect on LBM or fat loss in men in their 20s-30s.
waitwait so Gatlin gets skinny & fast this summer and is all doped up on some new wonderdrug, and now Gay starts running looking skinny & slow and so he's surely off the juice.
i tell you it's amazing what you guys can deduce about the day-to-day activities of pro sprinters by just looking at them!
Anyone see Asafa Powell at the same race? He's skinny now...I was shocked at how he looked.
