What's going on?
They said they won't let ppl in who were once banned.
Then I see Powell and Gay in it.
Amazingly, Gay doesn't look cut at all compared to some of the others. Have these bans slowed down the 100m significantly this year?

Bolt would need an enormous incentive for him to race, he has already announced he is finished for the year and of he follows his plans, he wants to run sub 19 for the 200m, and risking injury by partaking in the race would not be very beneficial
The rule they set is no athlete allowed in with 2 yr or longer ban. Powell got 6 months and Tyson 1 year. Gatlin was out for 2 yrs at least.

I think the whole thing stinks. So many double standards, caveats and hypocrisy in sprinting.
We had a 100m with at least 3 guys in there who have served time with doping infringements. Then we have Merritt winning in the 400, VCB winning the 100m, etc. It's a complete joke. So many of these athletes are getting off or having their suspensions shortened for all sorts of nonsense. If they test positive it should be a minimum 2 year ban, no excuses, no bargaining! And really it should be 4 years and have all their times scrapped from the top lists. Maybe then we'll see a marked drop in ped use.
They can't all have legitimate excuses, although so many are willing to give them the benefit of the doubt! I really don't enjoy watching the sprints much these days, although it's good to see the times this year are giving a truer reflection of what the elites can actually do clean. 10 secs has been made to look easy in recent years, but in fact there are v few who can actually break it clean.
As long as this situation continues I feel that the sport will continue to lose sponsors, public support and media coverage.
That's against Diamond League rules. As a DL meet they are required to give an AQ to last year's champions, WC's and this year's points leaders.
Of course Diamond League is a joke anyhow and it's not surprising to see meets ignore the rules.
VCB does not have a violation. The case against her was thrown out and invalidated because the testing protocols were not followed. I know some will say guilty anyway but the testing protocols are not there to exculpate the guilty but to ensure that a doping positive is in fact valid.
You should see through the PR garbage. The men's 100m at Zurich was not a DL event, so the RD could make his own rules. They knew that if Bolt raced Gatlin, Bolt was going to get his a$$ kicked, by probably about 0.2 (9.8 for Gatlin against 10.0), and that would not be good for European meets that depend on Bolt's appeal to sell tickets (see what happened to the attendance at Rome this year).
So they came up with this BS rule that excluded only Gatlin. If Gay was running fast enough to shoot holes in Bolt's aura, you can bet they'd come up with some BS rule to exclude him, too.
