I have never broken 55 for 400, but have run 1:58 for 800. That means I can run 59 twice, but have never run one lap in under 55. I feel that this is atypical. Why might this be? And does anyone else have a similar set of PRs?

45.24 vs 1.56.82 (only done 3 800s)
I've got too much fast twitch for 800m
like to get below 45 for 400m for next year
Don't want to reveal too much info incase you know who I am.
50 flat
1:57
44.4, 1:43.7
this was a long time ago
48.x relay split - never ran open 400
156 800
Realistically I think I may have been a better 400 guy than 800 but I ran Cross Country so that automatically put me in the mid d pool come track season.
50.04 soph year, 1:57 freshman year.
The 1:57 was disappointing.. workouts all pointed towards 1:54 or so, then I burned out hard before getting in any races and ran 1:57 all season, prompting my switch go the 400 sophomore year.
Those are rather close to my old PRs. I could run a badly paced 800 in 56/61 but never managed to break 55 any of the half dozen or so times I tried that season. The next year I dropped ~5 seconds off my 400 PR my first attempt (and with the same 800/1500 training previously), so I'm assuming the bad 400's where just mental (and that you have the same problem).
race- 48.8… a split--47.5
race-147.7, split-147.6
from hs. 62.9, 2:12.9
I never ran a 400 the year I ran the 212. I think on a great day I would have been near 60pt.
50.3
1:54.1
My PR's in both events are similar to the OP's: 57.9 and 2:02.2. I am much more of a long distance guy and my 200 is even worse 27.4 in sprint spikes. I rarely raced either and the 400 was in a relay.
400 53.5
800 2:00.3
I was a distance guy with only so-so speed
This was almost 30 years ago...
1:18 2:51.9
59,9 - 2.04.69
50.2 open in HS, a couple of 49.xx splits in college.
1:54.8
57.5 400 relay split, never under 59 otherwise
2:05 800 indoor
Had a coach tell me a good conversion is 400 time +3sec x2.

I hope that wasn't your 400m or 800m coach...
53 1.55

So based on my 400, which is 50.xx, according to your coach I should be able to run a 1:46-1:48 in the 800? I hope that's true but I don't think I'll ever come close
HS Jnr - 48.9 400; 1.50.2 800. Hoping to run sub-48 and sub-1.48 as a HS Sr in 2015.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
