I know some people ask if it's possible to be successful after dropping out of college and they rattle off names of famous geniuses that have done it. But has anyone on here done it without regrets? Just a weird little poll, I guess.

I finished undergrad and am now in grad school, so I can't give you an answer from a dropout, but I will offer my opinion. Most people who went on to great success having dropped out of college dropped out because they saw the opportunity and saw that finishing school would not increase their ability to take that opportunity, whatever it was. Think of Zuckerberg or someone similar. He starts something and sees that the sky is the limit for it. No business savvy person in the world would reason they'd be better off devoting their time and energy into fulfilling their college requirements instead of focusing on this lucrative business operation. Truth is, most people who drop out of college do so only because they can't hack it, not because they have any great opportunity. They're simply losers or people who never should have been in college. Some can go on to be successful, but in today's world, unless you're going to start your own business, invent something, go into computers (and have extensive computer knowledge without having a degree), or simply bust your ass at sales or something like that, you're pretty much screwed. You might be able to have a decent job and make a decent living working construction, being a firefighter, etc, but you're never going to become rich or anything.
On the flip side, if you're paying tens of thousands of dollars to get a political science degree, you're probably better off dropping out anyway. Why anyone goes $60k in debt to get a degree in theater, sociology, etc, baffles me.
Especially theater. I guess there's something nice about all that you learn, but I've heard something along the lines of "you can learn everything and train all kinds, but of you're auditioning against someone who just has that knack for acting(regardless of their own education), they're gonna win the role every time.
No dude, every person that's failed to finish college is homeless.
Come on dude, if the recession has proven one thing it's that a college degree is not a guarantee of success or even an entry level job.

I agree with that. But I think that also gives too many dummies hope that they'll also be just fine.
Did two years of college and dropped—100% not for me. There is no career that I want that requires college education. I make a good living in a line of work that's ideal for me and have no regrets. I could not care less about the importance others may place on having a degree. Many college graduates are functionally illiterate by my standards.

I agree with this.

I definitely agree that college is not for everyone. In fact, a smaller percentage should go to college in my opinion.
How's this for an assertion?
Many people in college shouldn't be there, but there are still others who aren't attending for various legitimate reason who should be there.
I wish we had the athletic club system that you can join after high school or even much sooner than that that they have in Australia and probably other places. I don't think we do but if so, it's not that prominent, right? Not to sure on that one.
