I'm a recent D3 grad and have spent all summer training for a marathon this fall. I'm running one in early November and wanted to know what if my goal of sub 2:30 is possible (or maybe even better). I was injured through much of my senior outdoor track season, but still ran some (maybe 40-50 mpw). This summer I built up my mileage to 100 miles per week because I've done 90-100 for some extended periods in college. My recent workouts include a 12 mile tempo at ~5:25 pace, and a progression run this past week where I averaged 5:57 for a 23 miler, starting at 6:15s and building down to in the 5:30s by the end. These efforts were near all out but I still had something left in the tank, they were on reasonably hilly roads, and I wore trainers. My PRs are 14:48 and 30:28 (track) and a 71 half marathon from freshman year. I figure I have some room for improvement still since I've only been training at decently high mileage since the start of June.
Is 2:30 doable for me for the marathon this fall on a pretty average course in terms of hilliness? I think it is but I'm wondering what shape other people think I'm in.
