If the Whopper goes away or is changed in some way, I don't know what I'll do.

Apparently, corporate taxes in Canada are only around 15% (compared to Americas 30%) so they want to move their operations (and profits) up north.

Wrong.
Operations in the US are still taxed at US rates.
However, just as the US is the only country on the planet to tax individual citizens globally, so to is it the only country to tax its corporations globally. There is a huge incentive to be a foreign domiciled company in the US. With trillions in unrepatriated offshore gains e.g. MSFT $92bn, there is a real benefit to becoming a non-US company.
Because of their overpriced king sized meals, Burger King = Murder King.
Anthony
have it your way, eh. get oot and aboot in coldasfuqistan
Here is the deal.
A Brazilian company owns a large portion of Burger King, based in Miami.
Tim Horton's was recently owned by Wendy's and just returned to being fully Canadian.
The offering looks as if it is Burger King who wants to purchase Timmies, so the Whopper remains rancid, expensive and unhealthy as always.
By your coffee local and buy your burger local.
Here is the deets on the proposed dealio:
Hey.
Coldasfucistan has spots that are warmer than Coldaswisconsinantartica.
For example west coast of BC is warmer in the winter than probably a third of the US. North East US + Alaska = a lot of geography.
Franchises are being pressured to pay a living wage and may not be able to compete in the US any longer.
the franchise burger joint no longer feeds the poor it feeds the middle class.
We'll see more automation and fewer human hands involved in moving your meal from the freezer to your plate.
The locations that rebrand to a lower price-point brand will self-select.
This creates a three tier group Hortons at the $US 9-16 price point. Burger King at the 7-12 and the new 3-9 buck let's call it Automatic Adam's that's touchscreen driven in the front of the house and highly automated back of the house.
The underlying real estate is the key to Burger Kings streamlining and cost cutting. Moving the real estate operations off shore might create another tax shave.
Something like Automatic Adam's, Ramen Randy's and Freddie Falafel might just be the first almost fully automatic food court trio.
Does this mean BK will start serving poutine? 'Bout time.

Then why did you say he was Wrong?
Sounds like you made the arguement for him being correct in that BK is becoming a non-US company to see the benefits you describe.
An article this morning about BK and tax inversion.

Their US profits remain in the US and are taxed there. Their non-US taxes will not be taxed by the US, as they are now a non-US company
They will pay plenty of tax on plenty of profits. It is just that they now will compete on the same tax playing field as the rest of the world.
