Yeah, not running for now. If her season's going to mid December, as it will, a little more rest and a period of cross training will do her good. She'll be training in a few weeks, and she'll be plenty fit come FL
A stress fracture in June, keeps her from running in August???
She needs to get away from the doctor quacks.

Time will tell if she is able to rebound but I think it's important for her friends and family to address her health. I've had a family member suffer through anoerexia issues twice, 15 years apart, and it's very complicated to address. It's an obsessive compulsive disorder that creeps in slowly. In our case, this family member just looked fit and in shape but she took it too far with eating and training. The family was torn about what to do. Some defended her since she "was always thin", others could see how compulsive she was about measuring her food and never missing a workout.
It started in high school. She got over it but relapsed as an adult. For the second time we all debated whether she was just in great shape or in danger. Lucky for us she had a minor traffic accident that sidelined her long enough to get out of that compulsive pattern. She's continued to run competitively but has stayed healthy.
I imagine that it is very hard for Rohrer to step back from her identity as FL champ and to resist the urge to rushback to fitness but her friends, family and coaches have to give her good counsel an protect her from a pattern of recurring injuries.
Stress fractures may also have nothing to do with that issue the above post mentions.
While it might be more prevlent in females who are iron deficent I can name a few prominent runners who don't have that problem.
I thought something may have been amiss when Anna wasn't at NIKE Elite camp. Better times ahead hopefully.
Anna, as of her senior photos on Facebook, is NOT anorexic. Yes slim, but the girl has muscle and looks very healthy at the moment. Maybe back when she won Footlocker as a sophomore she was pushing it, but claiming the girl has a serious eating disorder is nonsense. Like a lot of runners/swimmers, she does a lot of cardio and sometimes it is hard to keep up with caloric intake. This doesn't mean the athletic is anorexic and or has an eating disorder.
I was less skinny than her and I never got a period and got repeated stress fractures. You can't tell if someone is at a healthy weight or not just by looking at them.
Once I got above 108 pounds (I'm 5'4), I got periods again and never had a stress fracture issue again.
She may or may not be anaeroxic but I think her body weight and nutrition are big factors in her recurrent problems. It is hard to believe she can run that much and that fast and not eat like anaeroxics don't eat.
Replying on a phone so I can't reply to the person right above me.
Anorexia has very little to do with actual weight. It's mental foremost, and that is shown physically. The fattest people you know could be anorexic. Also, healthy weight varies for girls, and it could be she needs more weight to be injury free.
That said, I have no knowledge of whether Rohrer is or not. Who knows. The incidence of anorexia among fast girls is high. Hopefully she's all right except for some bone issues, and I don't think it's a good idea to discuss a high schoolers weight on a public forum.

Below 108 pounds is not anorexic at 5'4. Many world class women runners are in the range of 100 to 110 pounds at 5'4.
Nice photos 222. Particularly liked the shot with the medals. I am assuming you had permission to post those. Best wishes for a quick recovery.

I am aware of that, not saying that I was anorexic. I'm saying that even though my body looked healthy at 103-105 pounds, I was not healthy and that led to repeated stress fracture issues. Ever since I gained some weight (during a long break from running because of one of those stress fractures) I never had to deal with that again. Obviously people like Shalane Flanagan can compete at 105 pounds without a problem because they spend lots of time making sure their nutrition and everything is perfect, but I couldn't and I suspect that if Anna were to gain a little weight she would be less injury prone.
And look at Alexa Efraimson and Elise Cranny. Neither of them have the super skinny look and they are beating everyone out there and staying healthy.
Just saw result on Indiana Milesplit. Rohrer is back racing again, winning her sectional race.
There seem to be people here with a somewhat narrow view of anorexia (and related eating issues) and the consequences. They should listen to those posting about it, especially about the misconceptions of it being shown through and only through their notion of weight. It affects a lot more elements of nutrition and pictures are snapshots at one moment in time that do not capture the entire timepath with the condition and how the athlete deals with it, including the mental stress etc.
Rohrer won state in Indiana - 17:08 in Terre Haute (faster than she ran in 2012).
Pretty sure she has not had a stress fracture since last year but took this season very slowly because of her injury history and because she expects to be running into December.

Awesome
She seems to bounce back from injury really well. If she could get a few months of quality training in she could be lethal.
