Smart run by both Simpson and Martinez. Glad Simpson didn't try to run from the front and dictate the pace. She did exactly what she needed to do for the win. Martinez just didn't have quite enough but good to see her near the front.

I guess if you consider leading the last 30 meters dominating you are right?

I was going to call BS, but since you wrote that, of course we'll believe you.

If usatf tested for meds and prescription pills, Simpson and Coburn would be out of the sport. Trust me, I know.

Did that announcer say Jenny Simpson was a real racist?
Just because she didn't let the black women win ...

Dibaba ran the fastest non-Chinese (non-Russian?) 3k as well as the 1500 indoors. She was ready for all three events. She's just not been at that level outdoors, like Rupp.

Simpson obviousy ran great.I'd argue she won because she's not a racer in sense that it's often understood.
The fastest one to the finsih line. Really the race is 15 people running time trials. Yes it helps to be with the pack but her smart first lap gave her the win.
A "real" racer does not try to cover every move at every stage of a race.
A "real" racer understands that the objective of a race is to reach the finish line ahead of everyone else. She reads the situation and paces herself accordingly.
That's why Hutchings called her a "real" racer.
Accra - you're right, I slipped
Have to say that it's been beautiful to watch Jenny Simpson run this season.
She's had such a badass attitude from the start. She stuck to a tactic of going to the front, running her way and giving it everything for a few races. Then, knowing exactly where she is in terms of performance and fitness, she's seamlessly moved on to making the right tactical choices as she's come up against the toughest competition.
Respect.
I'm real excited for that 1500 in Zurich next week. It's all on the line, closest thing to a championship in an off year like this. Just wish Genze was in it.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
