Rupp's had a decent career, but I'm an expert on ceilings, and Rupp will not be running faster than 13:04 ever again.

He'll run better than 13:04 silly. Real question is does he run sub 13 at this meet? Not whether or not he runs the AR.

How many rabbits will be on-hand to chauffeur through 4,800m?
His NOPe dope, centro sauce and oregon juice dosages all indicate 13 shape.
That's an incredible prediction.
Yeah, just like I'll never drink, smoke, do drugs, go to parties, commit a misdemeanor, have sex, or harass someone on social media in highschool! (not in highschool yet)
In other shocking news. Water is wet

Aren't you the same tool who predicted he would not run an AR in the 10000 ever again??
This is an impostor. The clever one had a second P toward the end of his name.
SPMBLNPF was the man...not this wannabe.
Why does he announce "working on his tactics" this year when that's literally been all of his focus every other year? He's never been a guy seeking times
As I said: Rupp will never run faster than 13:04 ever again

There was no clever one. They're both idiots.

Dude was pure genius at riling up the morons, a group to which you appear to be a proud card carrying member.
That is a bit harsh my friend. Galen has consistently improved over the years both in longer and shorter distances. No reason to believe that he won't go sub 12:53 in the future. My guess is that this was his first race after his 2 kiddos where born so he needs some time to get back into the ol' groove. Once he does (and he will do so quickly), he'll be running lights out all over again. Too much talent and too consistent of solid coaching not to.
Why would someone with serious talent have a spouse or kids? If you're going to set high goals then don't allow any distractions. I personally think that the pacers screwed this one up though as the 1st pacer was way too slow, and then the 2nd pacer sprinted 3 laps to get a good 3k split, which ended up making the next 4 laps until the bell a jogfest. The the midway 3-lap mega-surge from pacer #2 prevented the last 400m from going very fast and ultimately this led to an unknown guy not going with any dumb pace increases except the top 5 break and tempoing to the win.
It wasn't perfectly paced for a 12:50-12:52...which is the limit of Galen's fitness, based on the 10000m AR (though some think he had more left in the tank when he finished that race). Until Rupp gets used to running sub-12:55 5000m races, he may need some help from a more-even pacing duty.
Well not in the 800m wrote:

Rupp did well considering what he had to push around.
This board, in year's past, has had some excellent discourse (sprinkled amongst the weeds). One of the best, and most notorious centered around the objective of Hadd Training, in extending one's aerobic potential out to greater race distances. The McMillan Running Calculator does an excellent job of computing/predicting one's aerobic race potential for multiple distances. (The Brojo's use John Kellog's computations.) I leave the exercise up to you, then to predict Galen's potential 5000m PR based on his other race distance PR's:http://www.mcmillanrunning.com/.

How does one find an exact limit of 5K ability based on a 10K race? I am skeptical.
