It's almost XC season, and most of you are probably doing workouts again. Last year there was a successful thread for this same goal, so I'm starting a new one now.
My goals for Fall 2014:
25:30s for the 8k on a flat course.
be competitive in all other races regardless of time.
maintain 70+ mpw throughout season until final taper
finish top 40 in NIRCA XC Nationals in Michigan (november)
summer training so far:
average mileage in 2014 has been 64 mpw, about the same as last year. avg pace of 7:11 compared to 2013 (7:20).
mileage in june and july have been 271 and 308. august will be 320+
workouts so far:
8/5 easy 6x(3on/2off) fartlek on grass
8/8 hill sprints
8/12 hard hilly trail run, plus 5x150 accels
8/15 hill sprints, little faster
8/19 5x1mi (road/dirt) 5:09.2 avg, controlled. 3min rec
