Seriously. I live in a college town and currently the new freshmen are having great difficulty looking both ways before crossing the street in large packs. Is it any wonder that they overwhelmingly vote liberal?

0/10, good subject matter but you need a lot more effort
Troll ratings have gotten too extreme recently. Everything is either 0/10 or 10/10. This guy is worth at least 2 or 3.

Are they crossing at corners or through crosswalks? In many states, it's the law that you have to stop for them.
I can see where this could be trouble. Imagine a scenario where a town is heavily populated with college students. They vote in local elections in ways that can hurt local homeowners, businesses, etc -- that is, the permanent residents who are the majority of the tax base. While the student themselves are only there temporarily and contribute little to the fiscal situation.
I think it's insane fox news viewers are allowed to vote

$20/hr minimum wage! We demand to be taken seriously!

Yeah! People shouldn't be allowed to vote until they are legally allowed to drink!
Please go to reddit with this nonsense. This is letsrun. Where we have witch hunts for dopers or bash others success!

In most places, students aren't considered residents of the college town. They would vote in the district where they have permanent residence.

Not true.

Nah...this thread would never fly on reddit. Most of the posters there are recent college grads who think minimum wage should be 25 bucks an hour and the government should pay off the student loans they took out to study art history at a for profit school. They wouldn't understand.
There are quite a few colleges, QUITE a lot, where the student populace is NOT overwhelmingly liberal. Does this even need to be pointed out?

You aren't fooling anyone. What you really wanted to ask is "How insane is it that liberals are allowed to vote?" Don't you have anything better to do during Fox News commercial breaks, or is this part of your daily affirmation? (And just to be clear, I would have the same criticisms of all the extremists who waste time on MSNBC.)
Go moderate or go home.

Are you saying that there are colleges that aren't for profit?
No, it is true. It all varies on location obviously, but many college towns have planned for this. Whether they use the idea of "domicile" or other wording, they'll require a sort of permanent residency.

Not true.
I sure as heck would not trust my college self with my voting choices. Supporting yourself with a full-time job totally changes your perspective of what is actually important.
More voter suppression hope from the right.
If we can only get back to banning women and blacks and adding poll taxes and tests to get the right people in office.

Okay, so let's talk about Boone, NC. Boone has been getting railed by MSNBC and the left for upwards of a year now for moving their precinct to an area that is hard to walk to from the Appalachian State University campus. Honestly, just click this link:
http://bit.ly/1w5rtmxBoone is a largely conservative mountain town that has a very liberal University. The two seem to coexist fairly well, to be honest. The problem is that most of the residents would prefer the students to relax on the local fiscal voting since so much of it kills jobs in the area. Well, they did not go about it in the best way - in my opinion - but the residents (of both parties, mind you) have made attempts to discourage student voting. Now they are the laughing stock of the left-leaning talking heads.
It is a major issue.
ALL major demographic groups haven't the foggiest notion about anything. Why single out college kids?
