Anybody know what happened here.
I know that guy and he wouldn't just resign to pursue other opportunities. What got swept under the rug?

Another thread says that Alex Gibby is taking this Charlotte job.
Seems odd to have resigned so late but it was a heck of a grab to bring in Gibby.
Well, that's a great move!
From track coach to used car salesman.
Won't be any freshmen to hit on anymore though :)
Good luck Ed! More to life than track. Will make 2-3x more and work less hours.
Something is amiss... this guy got in an altercation with FSU's women's coach at an XC meet. Good move to pick up Gibby who is a professional.
What can cross country coaches possibly fight over? Was he fighting with Karen Harvey?
Gibby to Charlotte.
Maybe Charlotte Distance can actually become a D1 program able to compete at the national level.
Yea until Gibby gets a better offer in 2 years, then Charlotte will go back to irrelevance.
Is Gibby a douche? He kind of has douche face!

No, he's not a douche despite the photo. He is about as good of a guy as you're going to find and UNCC is lucky to get him. Just look at his track record on improving programs; his experience speaks for itself. I've known him for a long time and have a great deal of respect for him.
Ummmmm Gibby was making 83k last year at Michigan. Oleson makes 65-67k at Charlotte. My guess is the absolute max the Gibby got offered is in the 45-50k range. How long would you stay at Charlotte for that comparative chump change? I'd be looking elsewhere from day 1.
Alex Gibby's wife is elite runner Katherine Newberry

Katherine represented the United States in five World Cross Country Championships, at the 2011 IAAF World Track and Field Championships in the marathon, and competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Trials in the 10,000m and the 5,000m at the 2004 Trials.
