huh?
Sorry guys i meant 4-5 x 400m at 800m pace with 90 seconds rest.
That sounds like more of a one mile workout than a 5K one.
Also sounds like a workout that you probably will not finish on pace.
Pretty sure nobody in the world could finish that workout. Imagine Rudisha before London doing 4x400 in 50/51, finishing the workout in under 10 minutes. Nope.

Honestly saying, I could finish this workout.
I have a 800m PR of 2:04 and i certainly could do 4x400 at 62 resting 90 seconds, maybe the 5th even 1-2s faster.
That workout is pretty pointless for 5k. For 5k I recommend tempo runs and race pace speed workouts. One of my favorites is 16x400 at 5k pace. Just use your imagination anything from 3-4 miles of volume at 5k pace for repeats 200m up to 1 mile is fine.
But is it a good speed workout for the 5k?
But will it help improve my speed for the 5k?
Your time and training would be better spent on some of the workouts that were suggested above.

If you want to improve your speed for 5k, do 1500m training one season, 5k the next, and switch on and off like that. Like how in HS you do 5k xc, 1500/1600 in track. Do something like that.
ok
