I'm a HS freshman running cross country this fall. Been training all summer consistently at around 40-45 mpw. 5:15 mile, 11:30 2 mile, and 18:15 3 mile PR's. I definitely am a speed guy, that's why my times drop off so drastically. Right now I am 7th runner, but wanna be consistent 5 guy by the end of the season. What can I do to create an edge on my competitors in this upcoming season? What is a reasonable goal for me? First meet/conditioner is on August 19th. Workouts look like this:
Monday: Easy 40 (recovery pace, 7:45)
Tuesday: Long run w/ tempo: 10 minute warmup, 3 mile tempo at 6:30 pace, then easy recovery pace until 90 minutes
Wednesday: Flying 8x40's for anaerobic power, 30 minute cooldown
Thursday: Long run, 7:30 pace, 10 miles
Friday: Easy 40 (recovery pace, 7:45)
Saturday: 4 mile tempo run (6:30 pace)
Sunday: Rest
Thanks in advance!!!
