That really is a pathetic outlook, thank god most athletes aren't like him. Think if an NFL player made a statement like this!! It's called being a competitor and gutting it out even when you're not 100%.

An NFL player has a whole team to back him up. He can get away with being at 80-90%. Mo does not have this luxury.

Yeah maybe a little with that comment.

But look if you 80-90% healthy I understand not racing unless it is an Olympics or WC's since that was you do all your training for anyway. Otherwise it is wise to risk serious injury.

However if you refuse to race because are 80-90% fit while having no pains or oncoming injuries. Well that is just bush league IMO.

Paula just assumed that he could do like she did and get a few injections, pop some pills, hook up an IV and be 100%. NOPe must be having some problems with having to continuously increase the dosages as the NOPers spend years on the juice.

Unless the race is a full-out time trial, he actually does have that luxury. His Kenyan and Ethiopian competitors certainly haven't stopped competing against Farah and they are very rarely in great form when going against him.

That's not what he said. He says he wouldn't run if he's 80-90 percent fit. So for Farah, 80-90 percent of his usual performance would equal 14:00 to 16:00 in the 5K and 30-33 minutes in the 10K. What's the point of running at that level? He is correct that he has no chance to compete in these events if he's that far off.

Fine we'll use golf as an example then. Think Tiger was 100% when he won the US Open in '08 against that Rocco dude? Hell know, he was playing on one leg! But what did he do? He went out and competed anyways, he's still not 100% and he still goes out a competes.

That's "what champions do" Mo- they compete whether they're in full fitness or not.

If you really think the Kenyans and Ethiopians are always in great form when running against Farah then you aren't paying attention. Where has Merga been? Where was Farah's competition in the 10000m? You're only picking one race for each of those Ethiopians. What about all of the other races??

Ha. The obvious sentiment, and Mo's problem, is that Caleb at 12:52 would beat Mo at 100%. Mo's finished. It's been fun watching him cherry-pick races and win a couple golds during a worldwide slump.

That's not what he said but it is what he meant.

Farah could not run for a year still run a 14:00 5K so your argument is invalid. 80-90% fit for Mohammed means he will be there with two laps to go in a 5 or 10 but he doesn't have enough fitness to kick for the win.

First, isn't Merga sort of done? I don't think he's had great results in a while...

Second, the point I was trying to make was that there's someone always in competitive form from Kenya and Ethiopia at these championships. You're 100% correct in saying that every one of Mo's East African competition is not always in great form. But there is always someone who can throw down a challenge in the championships.

Also, I feel like the 10000 has less and less of a reason for remaining an Olympic event. It's completely noncompetitive at this point. It's not even a DL event anymore, and there are only 2 10000s at DL meets this year. I'm expecting it to be phased out in the not too distant future.

Paula = truth teller. She also implied, and I agree, that David Rudisha is not only a better athlete, but a better man than Mo Farah.
