Any run in the Mizuno Wave Rider series? It's a nice-looking shoe, but I've never tried Mizuno. Is that "wave" midsole just a gimmick?

Awesome shoe. Very lightweight, but has some nice suport to it. Very responsive. Give them a try!

Thanks, Longshanks. Do they fit true to size?
Ah, I see you, too, have found the magic of 6pm.com.
But I have to say. Longshanks. Are you Seriously saying that a 12 oz shoe is light?
It's light for a Mizuno runner. Feels nice, but don't expect them to last before needing replacement (in case that matters).

Does anything last before needing replacement?
they're mexcellente. super awesome.
I've been running in the Rider since I had custom orthotics made for a foot issue. I really like Mizuno shoes. The Rider is no different. It is lightweight for a trainer and lasts as long as a lightweight trainer is going to last I find.
I was in the Precision before they discontinued it and liked it as well.
I've found the new Wave Rider has a stiffer ride than any of the previous models of Rider. The new model, in my opinion, is more like the old Precision or Ronin.
Still love the shoe, but if you are bigger you will definitely notice a difference.
I don't have an opinion on them.
I've been running mostly in the Wave Rider for at least 5 years now, and in other Mizuno shoes for a while before that. Every once in a while I try something else but always end up going back. And contrary to what someone else said about them not lasting, I usually get about 500 miles on them which I thought was pretty standard. In my opinion they're at least worth a try.
It's a good shoe
That's the previous version of the Rider. It was updated over the winter. Your local specialty running shop will not only be able to tell you whether it's a good shoe for you, but if they have any of that model left in stock in your size, they'll probably give it to you for that same price and you won't have to pay shipping. Otherwise, they can sell you the Wave Rider 17, which is lighter and sleeker, or help you find the shoe that works best for you, whatever it is.
That wave ridge banging up against the bottom of your feet with every strike can aggravate plantar fasciitis. They are a great feeling shoe, though.
Yes, fits true to size. What the other post said weighing 12oz? Not even close. He must be smoking something? The Wave Rider 17 is closer to 9 oz or even less!
Ok, thanks, everyone. I'll see if I can find a pair to try on.
No, the "wave" is not a gimmick, no more than gel, springs, trampolines, etc are for the other shoe companies.
It obviously provides cushioning and stability.
Mizuno's are well-made shoes, but their heel-to-toe ratio is too high for my liking.
