I have some very stinky (underarm area ) dryfit and polyester workout shirts that are resistant to normal detergent. I am familiar with the expensive specialized brand that is supposed to help remove the embedded bacteria, but am looking for a cheaper way to clean these. I can put on a shirt that was just washed, and the funk returns immediately.
So my question is, if you can put a dripping wet kitchen sponge in the microwave and almost completely disinfect it after 2 minutes, would you get the same effect on dri-fit clothes? and then throw them in the wash to get the odors out? Or does the microwave somehow damage the clothes and fill your house with some harmful vapors given off from putting synthetic materials in the microwave?
