Hey buddy- I was a lot like you in high school. I was a "cyclist" (raced Mtn bikes in the summer) but ran in high school all school year. I was able to do both but was never great at both )in high school. The running training was structured while the cycling was rides and races whenever they popped up.
Let me give you some advice. It's your junior year in HS, if you just want to do track for fun and cycling for the same- then go ahead. Stay away from the anaerobic work, just cycle for fun. But if you want to be great in either or. You have to be completely dedicated to one. I chose running and went to good university to do it. It took over my life for the next 5 years. I barely picked up the bike. Then I was injured, I hopped back on the bike and now am racing professionally. But it was a hard road and I missed the opportunities as a u23.
So I don't really know where you are at on a competitive level. If you want to head the direction of track in college, I would stick to your workouts. Never let cycling affect your ability to workout. If anything you can add some aerobic work. But biking will not benefit your running. Some spinning will not hurt it as the other poster stated, but if you're committed to being a full time track guy- don't worry about the cycling too much. Just fun easy rides, because if you work on anaerobic work too often you'll begin to build and change your muscular structure to being beneficial to cycling.
